Barbara and William Zigterman

Barbara and William Zigterman have become ambassadors to the world with a gift to the Field Museum in their estate plan.

"My very favorite thing to do at the Field Museum is attend the opening of new exhibitions—hearing the stories of those who gathered the specimens, walked the paths, crawled into caves, jumped into the sea or climbed through the woods to bring us these amazing objects," shared Barbara Zigterman.

One of seven children, Barb is a dyed-in-the-wool Chicagoan who grew up visiting the Field Museum on school field trips. After she married William Zigterman, her love of museums was carried on through their daughter, Genevieve, who grew up to work here at the Field Museum! Both Genevieve and the couple's son, Zach, inherited their love for travel and adventure.

"Including the Field Museum in our estate plan means we can extend our resources to children and scientists. Without these programs many children would not have the opportunity to share the excitement of learning by just taking a bus ride to the Field," said Barb.

"When you include the Field Museum in your estate plan you become an ambassador to the world. You not only open the Museum experience to the children, but you also support the scientists and researchers who find the treasures of the natural world. Once we find them, we can learn and understand more about the world around us. What better way to make a difference?"
