Linda Egebrecht

Linda Egebrecht is a volunteer and docent who also included a gift to the Field Museum in her estate plan.

Edward E. Ayer Society member Linda Egebrecht has loved the Field Museum since childhood. During spring break, Linda and her sisters helped at home instead of playing. As a reward, their parents allowed each of them to pick a day for the family to spend at one of Chicago's cultural institutions. Everyone always knew Linda's choice.

She first fell in love with the Museum's dinosaur fossils and learning about prehistoric life. During one unforgettable semester of college, Linda took an introductory course on Social Science. As a part of the curriculum, her class visited the Field Museum, and Linda discovered her passion for learning about indigenous cultures.

Later she learned the Museum's Northwest Hall was being renovated and needed volunteers for its reopening. Linda applied and officially became a Geology volunteer in 1982. She soon became a docent for the Alsdorf Hall of Northwest Coast and Arctic Peoples and still serves today.

In addition to volunteering, Linda has also included the Field Museum in her estate plan. She strongly believes in leaving a mark to do something good, especially for children throughout the city.

"I'd encourage anyone to help support the Museum's mission to ensure its programs, research, and community outreach continue," Linda shares. "It's a place that I love and enjoy to be. There's so much to teach and more for visitors to learn through our wonderful exhibitions."

By including the Field Museum in your will or other estate plan, you ensure our exhibits and programs are available for future generations to explore. Contact Bill Lynerd at blynerd@fieldmuseum.org or 312.665.7286 to learn about your giving options.
